Sorry - had to laugh at the balls it must have taken to open a car dealership called "Rodden Road Cars"

At least I assume the proprietor sees the funny interpretation that could be put on it...

There's load of these on autotrader so I'd get one in a colour you like. I think the blue looks horrible but many people must like it I guess.

Here's one not to far from the blue one...

R Reg FIAT Coupe 20V Turbo
Red. Remote Central Locking, Service History, ABS, Air conditioning, Alloy wheels, Driver airbag, Electric windows, Leather upholstery, Power assisted steering, Radio/CD. £3,995.

Top Gear Cars

Tel: 01452 307807

...doesn't say how many miles though.

Nice cars though, on the list of possibles for a replacement for my old 944.

The proper name for this colour is Sprint Blue. Not my favourite, but less loud than Broom Yellow! If you do look at it, check service history for a cambelt change, which is £650 upwards & essential at that mileage. Also start it cold & listen for a ticking or exhaust blowing noise from the front, which disappears after a minute - symptomatic of cracked exhaust manifold which is common (mine's on its third one!). Other regular issues are worn front suspension bushes causing various clonking noises & harsh ride, worn front tyres & brakes as you'd expect from a high performance car. But if it's sound, it's a great fun car for very reasonable money.

Many of you on here who have winced (& then proceed to moan !!) at my continued tirade against 156's in particular & Italian cars in general, will be pleased to know that I used to have a Fiat Coupe too, broom yellow N/A 16 valver.

Sadly, he engine blew up driving into Leeds on the M62 one fine Saturday !!

Still would have a 288 GTO if anyone had one going spare....

There's a buyer's guide (biased guide?) in Auto Italia this month - a good one should be 3000-5000, and a mint one 4000-6000. They describe the 20v turbo as a 'performance classic of the future'.

One of my mates has one, a sort of green metallic. Cracking car, I think.

Oh and milf - your coupe broke, and most other people's haven't. Your 156 broke, and most other people's haven't. I'm seeing a recurring theme...

Not necessarily so much. Many guys (including myself) on the Coupe forum have had the all the belts (essential as some places will only replace the cambelt and not the aux belt and other belts - its the aux belt that tends to go) for 400 quid or under - there are three or four very well respected specialists who'll do it as this sort of price.

That sprint blue one looks o.k. for a dealer at that price, but IMO there are better value ones out there.

I quite like sprint blue (although mine was red), IMO its the only car in this colour that actually pulls it off.

Exactly, buy on condition/history (lots of FIAT stamps ain't often a good sign..) rather than age for these cars.

Don't know if you know of it, but check out www.fccuk.org and the forum - there is a good buying guide (MUCH more indepth than the mag stuff) there and most of the cars for sale tend to be good quality motors owned by enthusiasts who know their Coupes.

Nice looking cars indeed. I would go for one of these for a second car, unless they fit 2 kids and stuff....................

I like the blue too.

Chris, I ran a 20VT Coupé for a year and 30k miles before I totalled it on a misjudged overtake.

It is an absolutely cracking car, IF you buy a good one.

Get yourself on to the Fiat Coupé forums at www.fccuk.org. For a model specific community, it is by far and away one of the most active I've seen, with constant meets, group buys, advice etc. It is also completely devoid of chavs and prats of any kind - on the contrary the standard of banter is very much like it is on PH, which incredibly enhanced my ownership experience of the car.

They are great cars, IF YOU BUY A GOOD ONE. There are plenty of duds out there, but mercifully they are easy to spot.

There is a dude on the FCCUK boards (nick FishyDave - he also posts on PH from time to time), who lives in or near Frome and who I'm sure would be very happy to accompany you to take a look at this car if you're interested. I wouldn't mind helping you out myself if Dave doesn't oblige. It is important you get someone experienced with the 20VTs to help you buy.

Alternatively, buy one of the many cars off the forum - these tend to be very well looked after and are sold on for sensible prices.

Good luck, and let me know if I can help.

They actually have 4 proper adult-size seats and a decent size boot, Mike. Much more practical as a family car than the equivalent GTV (but then they do have to make do without the trick rear suspension to make room for all that passenger space)

Sprint Blue was only available on the 20V Turbo, and personally I love it.

It was also available on later (post 1999) 20v non-turbos I believe.

Hmm - there is a guy on the Coupe forum with a sprint blue non-turbo, was at a meet I went to. I too thought it was a 20vt-only colour until I came across it. I've seen two other non-turbos in sprint blue aswell, but they seem to be w-reg or after and I *think* they might all be imports

Hmmm... possibly electric blue, and not sprint blue? It's all academic anyway.
