The bleed screw in the plastic elbow at the rear of the engine has done bleed screw things (yep, THAT bleed screw). I have a set of used hoses with elbow and bleed valve but i'm stumped as to how Alfa have secured the elbow to the head.

It looks like a big circlip/spring clip affair - anyone have experience ?

My high-mileage Brera 1750 did bleed screw things a few weeks ago. My local specialist carried out a repair but I’m. It sure how they did it.

had forgotten about this.

Alfa do indeed use big spring clip affairs to secure the pipes - gentle levering with a flat blade pops them out of their seating leaving you free to wrestle the hoses off.

seems this bleed screw problem afflicts many marques - quick googling produced several methods of dealing with the aftermath. I opted for the "heat a big screwdriver, use it to melt a slot in the remains of the screw and turn it out" method. Took me longer to find and purchase a butane torch than it did to do the job.

replaced the OE plastic jobby with an "uprated" steel version and it eventually bled itself in the usual manner
