Fiat 500 dash problem

Hi guys, my daughter has a 2011 Fiat 500 1.2, manual gearbox, and she keeps telling me than the centre circle of her dash ( the bit with the temp and fuel guage ) randomly goes blank but the rest of the outer dash stays illuminated / functional ? But of course, every time I go to check it it works ….. Is this a common fault on these? I can find lots of other faults with the dash but not this particular one? Strange. Any help or advice much appreciated!!

I've heard of the display flashing when the battery gets low OP. Might be worth starting there?

No disservice to PH but there's a very active 500 owners club group on facebook which might be worth joining too.
