ONe be interested in how they are to live with.

Get yourself a copy of Auto Italia magazine. It has plenty of Alfa specialists listed in the back, many of whom should be able to assist. They also had an article about SZs a few months back, so you may be able to get a back copy.

Alternatively, get along to the Italian Car Day at Brooklands (Surrey) if you're close enough. There's bound to be at least one there you can question the owner about.

Great cars, BTW.

Great cars - certain parts can be pricey, though.

A quick search of the member's directory yields:

SZ: tonylal, phlea
RZ: jamieboy

.. I've had an SZ for about a year. Pretty standard apart from some cam work and Stainless exhaust system fitted by the previous owner @ Jamie Porters nr Stevenage.

I love it and although they aren't that quick on paper then have sublime handling and great steering feel (I wanted a 147 GTA but its steering was light, girlfriend had a Civic Type R and that was "strange" too.), and sound great

Prices are hardening after dipping to about 18k. You either love or hate the styling but I think they look fab. I've had no probs with it as the basic mechanicals are well proven its justs as earlier posted that certian bits can be difficult to come by (Windscreens were a prob but Autodelta did a batch but the front lights are becoming scarce..)

There a good web page run by E Van be Beek (sorry not got the link.) and I know Jamie Porter is something of a specialist

I've had my RZ for a bit over seven years now, and echo pretty much everything that's ben said above. Like apex, I've had some bits and bobs done to make it a bit quicker, but not too excessive because it really is all about the handling rather than straight-line speed.

I used mine as a daily driver for about three years, and it was faultless, and the SZ's are mechanically the same so as long as you get one that's been looked after you shouldn't go too far wrong.

Ed's site is at http://home.wxs.nl/~evdbeek/monster.html - definitely worth a look if you haven't already.
