The tyres on our 156 2litre Twinspark Sportwagon are due for replacement. It currently sports Firestones on the back and Continentals on the front (205/55/R16s).

It's Mrs Twin Turbo's car, so we're looking for good wet grip, low noise, good comfort and hopefully a good price (although we're only 30 mins from Micheldever Tyres, possibly the cheapest place around )

Any recommendations as to brands?

Ran mine on P6000s which are ok nothing special or Goodyear NCT5s which were better all round.
However now running Porker on G/Y F1 GSD3s which are better still and similar money to the P6000s.

I have run BF Goodrich Profiler G's, the Firestones F570's I think (Standard fit) and Toyo Proxes T1R's on the 2.4 JTD Sportwagon, out of those three I think the best value/grip/noise combo was the BF Goodrich, slightly softer sidewall so took a very slight bit of sharpness out of the steering, gave an excellent ride, were very quiet and just as good as the Toyo's in the wet (on this type of car) and the fronts lasted 22k, which I didn't think was too bad given the driving style and the weight of the JTD.

I've got Goodyear Hydragrips on my Stilo - same size though.

Purchased for £56.50 each from mytyres so allow an additional tenner for fitting.

They won an Autocar test last year and were highlighted for their excellent wet grip.
I'm now on my second set of fronts and have no complaints whatsoever.

The car had P6000s on it before and they were total rubbish.
