Insuranc costs on a Marea HLX 125 TD

Found a second hand 1998 Marea 2.4TD going cheap and put down a deposit. The insurance quotes seem a bit steep though
It seems to be a higher group than a Mondeo V6 ST24 or a Vectra V6! To add insult to injury, the later model 2.4 JTD with 130 bhp is cheaper to insure .
I tried First Alternative and Direct Line, my usual choices.
My car guide says it should be group 12 but I wonder if their rarity has raised the insurance level. Has anyone else experienced this?

Hi, can't tell you what insurance group it is but try confused.com for insurance quotes. Basically chuck in all the details and it searches nearly every uk insurer and gets you the best quotes, you'll normally end up with a good dozen or so to choose from.
