I've only gone and done it.......

I've been getting very frustated with being limited to 2000 rpm in the Tuscan on my 5 mile journey to work (as it doesn't have time to get warm), so I've bought myself an Alfa 156 2.0 TS Veloce from fellow PHer "156er"
It's black with Tan Momo leather and in excellent condition. I have to say that I'm very impressed - easy to drive, good handling and a lot of metal for the money! Never had an Alfa before, so don't understand how they depreciate so much. They're a lot more interesting than the German stuff!
Well, the rumour is that you're not a real petrolhead until you've owned an Alfa.
Any tips or things I should be aware of?

Had a few twinsparks, brilliant cars, just keep an eye on the oil, they do quaff some....but they all do that.
Squeaky front bushes, again, they all do that....
Personally I love alfas, and have had no bad experiences, my twinspark 164 has 263000 miles, on it's original engine, box and surprisingly the original clutch (which has just started slipping)Other people will say they have had nothing but problems with alfa's, but what I will say is that you wont find as much character and charm in anything else.
Nice one matey.

When the 156 went "156er" had to go to! So here's my new name, perhaps more apt for my forthcoming Elise than my company diesel Borer. Sorry, Bora.
She looks lovely as ever in the pictures, still just simply THE best looking 4 door saloon on the planet.
And I'm sure Hamster said you have to own TWO Alfas to be a proper petrolhead. Keep your eye on your postbox, small accessory on it's way!
Cheers

PS...A TVR and an Alfa...are you mad????

Man after my own heart, tvr and two alfas.
I knew I'd find people with taste on this forum!
Thanks everyone for the words of advice & encouragement - I'll get out there this morning & get her cleaned & the oil checked. (and then go for a blat of course - TVR is still in the garage for it's 24k service)

Hi Mike - I'm based near Henley, so not too far away. I'd be up for a blat - there are some absolutely fantastic roads around South Oxfordshire. You can also give me the gen on the Tutors (were Chipmonks when I was in the cadets!) Cheers Jase
