Help - Head Gasket on a V6 166

Hi, hope someone on here can help.

My Dad's got a 3.0 V6 166 on an 02. Was overheating which has been traced to a head gasket.

Not sure what bank it is, but he's been quoted about £1300, is this right?

Also worth getting a price from an independant Alfa garage too, just to check.
Might not be worth paying main dealer rates on a 2002 car - they have to pay for pwig's internet bill....

That's a price from a non-specialist indy.

He's had it from new, and it has always been main dealer serviced.

I'm always a bit suspicious of overheating problems being due to a head gasket failure. It is far more likely to be an overheating problem that has caused a head gasket failure. The price sounds about right but it is high enough not to want to pay it once let alone twice. make sure the cooling system is thoroughly checked over afterwards and keep an eye on the gauge for a while.
