Hi, Just wondered if anyone can offer some advice before I end spending a fortune. I have a 156 GTA and last week I was driving along when I noticed the charge light came on.... I quickly switched the non essential electrics off ! Then 10 mins later the charge lamp went off. I drove home ok and it didnt come on again. BUT next time I drove it (a week later) it was dark and although the charge light wasnt on the lheadights started to dim, then ABS warning lights came on, then EBD then... basically it went into limp mode. I managed to pull over and park up but the battery was dead.
I have heard that replacing alternator is a nightmare on the V6s so dont want to go to all this hassle if it could be something else. The charge light going out and not showing again is waht is intriguing me. Is there a chance that just a fuse has gone ?
If I do have to take the alternator out what's the best way. I have heard its a engine mount loosen, suspension and exhaust off job with engine raised/lowered, then out through the wheel arch !!
Any help most welcome !
