156 diesel engine options

I'm looking to return to the Alfa fold, probably a 156 in one of the diesel options..
Been looking at the 2.4?

Are there different versions of this engine? are there variations of power/reliability/tunability?

10 valve versions were 136, 140 and 150bhp all with 5 speed boxes.
20 valve is 175bhp and has a 6 speed box.

All are good strong engines with bags of grunt and a great sound. (Yes, really!).

Speak to someone like Angel Tuning for advice on remapping and they would probably be able to recommend which version is the best to go for tuning.

is the 20 V 2.4 the same as in the 159? doesnt it have 200 bhp?

does anyone know when the 156 went to the 20 V engine? what year/reg?

The 159 has 200bhp.
The 156 has 175bhp.
In broad terms they are versions of the same engine.

Came out with the big nose facelift, late 2003.
