The Caterham Seven celebrates its 30th anniversary this summer with the release of two Limited Edition models – the Tracksport and SV 30.
Aimed at the two communities who typify the current Colin Chapman designed Seven generation, the Tracksport is a pure, out and out track day car, whilst the SV 30 apparently provides the "unequivocal B-road sensation".
Only a limited number will be made - just 15 of each model.
Inclusive with every Tracksport, a day at Palmersport’s Autodrome complex in Bedford will provide the perfect environment for the motorsport inspired car. Meanwhile, SV 30 buyers can blast off into the countryside and enjoy a weekend break at one of Hilton’s hotels.
Drawing its power from the race tuned MG X Power 1.8-litre unit, the light weight Tracksport develops 140bhp. Developed from racing, the Caterham Tracksport has now undergone over 100,000 test miles at Jonathan Palmer’s Autodrome complex.
From a standing start, the Caterham will reach 60mph in 5.3 seconds, going on to a top speed of 122mph.
The track-only specified model comes complete with race dampers, carbon wing protectors, FIA roll bar, Caterham race seat, Momo quick release steering wheel, 5 point race harness, 5 speed ‘box, and wide track front suspension.
Available in Celebration Green and factory built, the Tracksport is priced at £17,950 on the track.
Since 1973, Caterham has honed Colin Chapman’s original design both on and off the track. During that time, the basic shape and dimensions have remained true to the original Seven; that was until the introduction of the Roadsport SV in 2000 which catered for the salad dodgers amongst us. The slightly wider and longer version of the Seven accounts for 30 percent of all sales.
The SV 30 is finished in Boston Green and uses the 120bhp 1.6-litre MG X Power unit. It's even quite frugal with a fuel consumption figure of 37mph at touring speeds.
The SV 30 goes on sale at just £19,950 including leather seats, 15" 10 spoke alloys and full weather gear.
