The creation of the Audi Revolut F1 team was never going to be a modest affair. That’s not really the Audi way of doing things, and especially not when there’s something as significant as an entry into the pinnacle of motorsport to shout about.
Already we've had confirmation of a new Bicester facility, and a pretty lavish launch even by the standards of F1 car reveals. Now Joe Public can get a taste of Audi F1 energy, and probably associate the brand with motorsport more than they currently do, with the launch of the Audi Drive Experience at Silverstone.
As part of a new three-year deal that makes Audi the Official Car Partner of the home of British motorsport (so expect to see the four rings on safety cars, VIP transport and more) customers will now be able to drive an RS3 at Silverstone. Certainly worse ways to spend a day, even if you will just use the 1.85-mile International layout rather than the full GP.
‘The Audi Drive Experience invites fans to unleash the explosive acceleration, precise handling and quattro performance of the Audi RS3 Sportback on Silverstone’s world-famous circuit’, they say, which isn’t far from the truth at all. For the past five years now, the third RS3 has been confounding expectations with its performance on road and track, and the most recent revision is better than ever. Park your prejudices - it’ll be brilliant fun. Honest.
Audi UK’s MD José Miguel Aparicio said: “The new Audi Drive Experience allows fans and customers to experience true Audi performance and passion first-hand, and there is no better place to demonstrate this than at the Home of British Motorsport. Delivering exceptional customer experiences while showcasing innovation and performance sits at the heart of this partnership.”
The experience is available to book now, with prices from £239 (or £284 with video), with six remaining dates for this year. Or, for an RS3 to keep and take to Silverstone whenever there’s a track day, prices for the 8Y are now from sub-£35k.
