It’s been some journey for Mate Rimac and his eponymous company. It was only as recently as 2011 that the Croatian was EV swapping an E30 3 Series. Yet here we are, not much more than a decade later, with the 36-year-old as CEO of Bugatti-Rimac and the company he formed in 2009 working with Porsche, Hyundai, BMW, Renault, Jaguar, Aston Martin, SEAT and Koenigsegg. An impressive 15 years by anyone’s standards. Maybe even unprecedented. So here’s the Rimac to celebrate.
The Nevera 15th Anniversary Edition is limited to just nine examples of the 150-unit run, all in matte copper - the first time this kind of paint has been offered on the 1,914hp hypercar. Rimac says it’s been chosen because it’s a colour associated with both celebration and energy, copper of course found in electrical cables. The bi-colour wheels are also standard on the 15th Anniversary, as are new badges, a Rimac pattern that ‘mimics the connections of a circuit board’ and the carbon front splitter.
Mechanically the car is unchanged from the standard Nevera, though nobody is likely to take issue with that given the Rimac set 27 performance records in 2023 (including 7:05 at the Nurburgring) and is capable of 256mph.
In addition to the exterior tweaks, each of the nine 15 Years Anniversary Editions gets bespoke luggage, copper anodized switchgear, copper-painted surfaces and a ‘2009-2024’ script on the armrest. The luggage will match the bold black or pristine white upholstery, with more copper and ‘15’ logos on the leather.
Mate Rimac said of the Nevera limited edition: “Honestly, when I started to tinker with my first car in a garage, I couldn’t have even dreamt of being where we are 15 years later. There were so many times in the early years that we really thought the company wouldn’t make it, so reaching the 15-year milestone felt like it was worthy of a celebration. The 15th Anniversary Edition Nevera is the car that marks our progress, revealing just how far we’ve come. From garage to global; from worrying about keeping the lights on to a 2bn EUR valuation; from converted BMW 3 Series to the world’s fastest accelerating production car and from hypercar maker to Tier 1 EV tech supplier and energy storage pioneers. All achieved in a country where all of this would have sounded like science fiction at the time of founding the company.” You might say he’s quite proud, then - every right to be, too.
Each Nevera 15th Anniversary Edition will cost €2,350,000, or a smidge under £2m at current exchange rates. Unlike the Time Attack, which was sold out ahead of reveal, it would seem that the latest Rimac remains available if you’re thinking of splashing out on a new summer sports car. A customer example will be exhibited at Goodwood this weekend, and make a run up the hill - just maybe don’t expect it to match the 49.32 seconds set by a Time Attack last year…
