Anybody who has attended a Goodwood event or Autosport show over the past few years will recognise the voice of Henry Hope-Frost: passionate, fantastically knowledgeable and infectiously enthusiastic, he was the perfect fit to bring motorsport to its audience. Now the tragic news has emerged that Hope-Frost was involved in a fatal motorbike accident on his way home from Goodwood yesterday afternoon.
Predictably there's been an outpouring of grief from across the automotive world, tributes flowing in on social media and PH to a man whose irrepressible motorsport fascination, unfailing humility and fantastic sense of humour made him admired across the industry. A memorial photograph will be taken at the F1 test in Barcelona this afternoon, and we would expect a significant dedication to Hope Frost at next week's Goodwood Members' Meeting.
Since news of Hope-Frost's passing, Omologato has said that all profits from today's sales will go to his family, and a dedicated trust is in the process of being set up to benefit his wife and three children. When that's up and running, we'll be sure to let you know. For now, PH sends its sincere condolences to the Hope-Frost family at this tremendously difficult time - he will be sorely missed.
