With the American tuning-fest/trade show that isSEMA just a few weeks away, US tuning companies are upholding tradition by releasing a slew of beefed-up American muscle. Much of it doesn't particularly float the PH boat, but this modified Corvette C6 from Michigan-based Specter Werkes just can't be ignored.
The new C6 GTR's extensive body kit with carbon fibre accents and matte black rear fascia may be rather unsubtle, but the overall effect is as dramatic as the monstrous power output. This example puts out 800bhp using massive twin-turbos from (continuing the unfamiliar American tuner roll-call) Lingenfelter Performance Engineering, and a rather bizarre-looking Corsa exhaust. (No, not from a Vauxhall...)
Nice big six-piston brakes from StopTech sit behind suitably-ostentatious carbon fibre wheels, wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 Zero Pressure tires. There are also extra leather bits for the interior, and the package can be customised to personal taste.
This second iteration of the GTR kit will be available on all C6's, including the convertible and the ZR1 (we'd love to see that), though the car featured here is based on a Z06. A basic GTR package starts at $36,995 (£22,471) with lots of cost-option performance parts available (we reckon you'll need most of them to get the 800bhp of this example!), and they'll start hand-building them next Spring.
