Some might accuse the ABD of too much hot air, but that's their
latest beef. The Association of British Drivers claims that global warming
activists are polluting us with misinformation.
ABD Environment Spokesman, Bernard Abrams, comments: "There is
overwhelming evidence that variable solar activity is responsible for climate
change. The role of the Sun has been under-estimated all along, a fact recently
confirmed by research from the European Space Agency. Given that mankind is not
responsible for 'global warming', attempts to reverse climate change through
carbon taxes are King Canute strategies - they are bound to fail. Gordon Brown
might as well tax the Sun for shining."
"We are now, in any case, in a significant period of global cooling,
something which the carbon dioxide alarmists cannot explain."
The ABD supports the view, (and claims to be backed by over 17,000 scientists
worldwide and summarised in the controversial Oregon Petition), that there is no
credible evidence that mankind is influencing climate change and causing global
meltdown. Abrams continues: "We are told repeatedly that there is a
consensus over climate change, and that mankind - usually motorists - are to
blame for global warming. In fact, the true consensus is just the opposite, as
can be seen from the Oregon Petition. Climate change is real and as old as
planet Earth itself, but the politician's explanation in terms of emissions is,
in our opinion, merely an attempt to excuse highway robbery by indirect taxation."
