Mito: The start of something big?
Alfa is planning a small sports coupe based on the Mito, it has been reported. The car will take the Junior name and will be closely related to the new Lancia Fulvia.
Expect the Junior to appear in 2011 with the new Multiair camless 1.4-litre petrol engine, which will push out 105bhp in N/A form and 130bhp with a turbocharger.
There will be a hydraulically-activated valvetrain that is said to help boost power by around 10% over the current 1.4, while improving economy and reducing emissions.
According to 4Car a double-clutch DSG ‘box will be available in two years which should also appear in the Mito.
No word yet whether the Junior will be fitted with the 230bhp four-cylinder that is destined for the Mito GTA, but this is highly likely.
The Mito GTA will be one of the stars of March’s Geneva motor show and will feature an electronic limited-slip differential.
