for the next week's Frankfurt Motor Show grows ever longer, Bentley has announced that it's adding a minor entry in the form of 'Series 51', a set of themed aesthetic packages for the Continental GT and GTC.
The name refers to the year that Bentley's styling department was established by John Blatchley, and this car is being pitched as a tribute to that time and Blatchley's trademark style.
Frankly, many of the details are a bit over our heads here at PH Towers, but you may be fascinated to learn that, according to the press release, the Series 51 'will demonstrate the full potential of leather hide colours and showcase the creative application of contrast stitching and piping'. It will also feature 'several unique interior details including the use of non-indented hide for diamond quilting, contrast piping for the seats and doors as well as bespoke Series 51 treadplates'. We couldn't have put it better ourselves.
As is par for the course with modern Benters, there are wheels that any aspiring hiphop artist/Premiership footballer will be proud of. In this case they're 20" 14-spoke polished 'Diamond' designs with dark centre caps, and the car is festooned with Series 51 badges and Bentley 'B's.
As you'd expect from the girls in the Crewe upholstery shop, a vast combination of interior colour sets and combinations are available to customise this humble runaround.
Shown here in the crystal white that is very en-vogue at the moment, the Series 51 has a clean, rather German look about it, and is sure to be warmly received at Frankfurt - though it may have to compete a bit for attention with some of the other rather tasty metal being debuted at what is shaping up to be a cracking show.
