The PH Sunday Service 2020 calendar has just kicked off with our first of the year up at Bicester Heritage, where we joined thousands for a Sunday Scramble at the retired WWII RAF Bomber Station. It isn't as grey and drab as a cold, damp Sunday morning in January sounds, though - the site has beautiful time-warp buildings, with fantastic niche businesses tucked away in them and all manner of classic cars coming out to play.
PHers were treated to discounted tickets and special PistonHeads club parking in an ideal location, just a couple of minutes' walk to all the action at the centre of the venue. We had prime view of all the cars arriving and leaving the venue, and as we were just a stone's throw away from the airfield, we could watch the gliders get hurled into the air - which looked bloody terrifying, by the way.
Those at the centre of the site were greeted by a host of classics that we imagine rarely see the light of day, so it's a real treat to get up close and personal with them - particularly given the time of year. There were legends from Jaguar such as the D-Type and E-Type, a stunning Bugatti Type 35, a lovely little original Fiat Abarth 595, many, many Porsches, and plenty more besides. The PH car park didn't disappoint either, with a Miami Blue 911 GT3, a 1960 three wheeled Berkeley T60, a Bullitt Mustang and a lovely Noble M600 to name a few.
This was the perfect way to kick start the year's events as we look to make Sunday Services bigger and better than ever. We'd like to send a big thank you to Bicester Heritage for having us once more, and a big thanks to all PHers who came along.
