After years of preparation, the Bloodhound SSC will be revealed to the world on September 25/26 at East Wintergarden, Canary Wharf. We had a
chat with the team
back in April and now you can see the finished car at its global debut.
The 135,000 thrust hp land speed racer will attempt to hit 800mph in 2016, breaking the 1997 land speed record of 763mph. One side of Bloodhound will be exposed allowing visitors to see the carbon fibre, steel and alloy innards as well as the intricate tail-fin. You can also get a peek at the cockpit for a look at where Andy Green will sit on his way to 800mph.
"We realised that we have a unique opportunity to show the car before its carbon fibre and titanium skins are fitted in place, so people can see the extraordinary engineering inside." said Project Director Richard Noble.
As mentioned previously, the Rolls-Royce EJ200 jet engine has a Jaguar supercharged V8 engine for the fuel pump (!). The Jaguar support vehicles featuring that engine as, er, just an engine will be also on display. And why not have a go at being Andy Green in the simulator? Sounds like it should be a great couple of days. It's a ticketed event but they are free and available here. We would love to see some pics if you do head along!
