Brabus has revealed an upgrade package for the Mercedes E63 AMG. But despite its dramatic appearance, the B63 S kit offers only modest performance gains, with an extra 30hp from an engine remap, two sport air filters and high-flow metal catalysts.
This brings peak power for the Merc's mighty 6.2-litre V8 up to 547bhp, and torque up from 464 to 479lb ft. Three tenths of a second are trimmed from the standard E63 AMG's 4.5-second 0-60mph time, and top whack is apparently up to 200mph.
As you'd expect from Brabus there are wheel and tyre options a-plenty, with 18, 19 and 20ins rims on offer. There is also a restyled front grille and bumper with a carbon fibre lip and large air ducts, and at the back you can add a diffuser and spoiler. Brabus will also fit a limited-slip differential to help manage the monstrous power output.
The interior options include a recalibrated speedometer with a 225mph range, some wood and carbon-fibre inlays, and that modern symbol of dubious taste, illuminated logo sill plates.
The B63 S package is being touted as a sort of poor man (edit: slightly-less-rich man)'s alternative to the insane 800bhp 'Black Baron' E Class, but since only ten of those were made at a cost of over half-a-million pounds each, it's probably better thought of as an attempt to fill the gap where the E-Class Black Edition might fit.
Most of the bits can be fitted to both saloon and estate versions of the E and all are covered by Brabus' 3 year/62,000 mile warranty. Prices and availability are still TBC.
