CTS Sportwagon set to get 556hp V8
Yank-o-phile fans of hot V8 estates rejoice: the car for you is on the way. Cadillac has reportedly decided it will build a CTS-V Sportwagon to sit alongside the saloon and coupe variants.
According to reports in the US blogosphere, GM sources have confirmed that an estate CTS with the awesome 556hp supercharged LSA V8 is definitely on the way, possibly with a choice of manual or automatic transmissions - both versions have been spotted testing.
The Cadillac CTS-V Sportwagon would be a direct rival for the likes of the Merc E63 AMG, Audi RS6 Avant and BMW M5 Touring - at least in the performance terms - if it makes it to Europe.
That does seem likely: since the standard CTS wagon has been conceived as a direct rival to premium European estates, a Labrador-friendly CTS-V would be a natural extension of the range.
There is, of course, no official line from the General as to whether the car is coming to the UK, Europe or even whether it exists at all, but here's hoping...
