Along with AMG and Brabus, Carlsson is one of the many established names in the world of Merc tuning. Its latest package is a relatively subtle workout for the current (C 207) E500 Coupe, called the CK50.
The 5.5-litre V8 coupe was already seat-squashingly quick, but as is par for the course in Merc tuning, Carlsson felt there was a little more that just needed squeezing out. An ECU fiddle along with a stainless steel exhaust and sports air filter mean an extra 47bhp is brought to the brawny Benz, with peak power and torque now at 435bhp and 442lb ft respectively.
The exterior of the original car is already quite bold, so Carlsson has not added a huge amount of flourishes. Smart two-tone alloys, a small bootlid spoiler, twin oval tail pipes and a discreet front apron are the only tweaks on offer (the last of which, predictably, can be specced in 'raw' carbon fibre).
A new coilover suspension system with 'stepless' adjustable damper and ride height settings is a nice addition, and can be specced with stiffer springs that lower the car by 30mm.
There are, of course, the sort of 'mix and match' customisable interior options you'd expect in this sort of car, though in this case they sound fairly low-key, with the exception of the bizarre 'illuminated logo floor mats'. Mmm - if only they'd spec it up with some under-car LEDs, then we'd be getting really classy....
Prices for the various bits and bobs in this kit are not available yet, but are expected shortly.
