Buyers of Jaguar’s hottest XFR and XKR models are to be offered on-track training to help them get to grips with their cars performance.
From April, owners of both models will benefit from a free day out at the company’s Gaydon, Warwickshire test track, during which they’ll get demonstration laps with a team of instructors and then a chance to drive the circuit.
The new training operation will be known as the R Performance Academy according to a report by Autocar magazine, which also claims Jaguar is proposing to open a ‘Jaguar World’ facility it hopes will mimic the success of Mercedes-Benz World in Surrey.
Intriguingly, the chance to drive the Gaydon test track will not be restricted to Jaguar ‘R’ buyers, as the proposal is to offer R Performance Academy training to anyone with a performance car and £400 to invest in a jolly good day out. We should learn more about the offer next month when the scheme goes live.
We’ll have to wait a little longer for Jaguar World, says Autocar. Apparently the £5m scheme depends on a suitable site being found so we won’t be able to visit until 2012 at the earliest!
