Panther Lima available for hire
Westcountry Classics Car Hire has been established by sports car enthusiast David Stephens to provide what he called 'affordable classic sports car hire' in the South West of England.
Stephens said he realised that there was a market for more ‘approachable’ classic sports car hire in the region after being quoted what he considered to be extortionate sums to hire a classic Jaguar, for an anniversary drive with his partner. As a result, he has made his own collection of fine British sports convertibles available to the public. Calling the company Westcountry Classics, Stephens said he abides by the simple philosophy that nothing is too much trouble.
Westcountry Classics fleet specialises in the kind of cars people can have fun driving, said Stephens. There are no highly tuned, highly strung, old supercars which cost an arm and a leg just to sit in. Just good quality British sports convertibles from the 1950’s, 60’s and 70’s.
The fleet receives specialist maintenance far beyond manufacturers' recommendations and your own car can be stored in the company's purpose-built garages while you enjoy wind-in-the-hair driving from the classic age of motoring. And when you get back, you car will have been cleaned, if you like. All hire cars come with tourist information packs, picnic hampers and up-to-date regional driving maps.
Westcountry Classics expanding fleet includes; 1967 Triumph TR4a, 1959 MGA 1600 roadster, 1967 MGB, 1978 Panther Lima with Vauxhall Magnum running gear and 1966 Daimler 250 V8 saloon which was restored by 1980’s pop icon ‘Boy George’.
The Web site is rudimentary right now and is said to be 'under construction'.
