You may remember the questionable
Porsche Carrera GT replica based on a Boxster
we brought you a while back. You may also remember thinking that things couldn’t get any worse than that. Sadly we were all wrong.
This is replica Carrera GT building on a whole different level, and this time there is not a Porsche part in sight. Instead the maker of this particular replica has naturally gone for Japanese micro roadster the Toyota MR2 as the basis for a German hypercar.
Obviously you wouldn’t want to use a mint MR2, so a salvage 2003 model has been sourced, and substantial work has been carried out. Not to the engine, mind you – why would you need any more power to drag around all that glass fibre?
The usual soft top has now been ditched for a huge removable item and the car is now in perfect condition. Well, apart from the ‘minor cracks all around, mainly on top surface’. However, this didn’t stop it snatching third place in the ‘2007 Knotts Berry Farm Kit Car Show: AHA Fun Under The Sun Handcrafted Automobile Show for the Porsche Spyder 550 division’. Whatever that is.
All this for $12,000, but beware the reserve has not yet been met…
