It's not just the season of goodwill and general falling about. It's also the season for silly warnings from insurance companies.
Take the advice given by one insurance broker, whose blushes we'll spare (for the moment anyway). Apparently there are lots of accidents involving Christmas trees falling off the tops of cars, or interfering with driving and causing an accident.
The solution? Don't buy a tree.
"Buying a tree is part of the fun of Christmas, but maybe this year drivers should consider that it might just be simpler to either buy something that fits neatly on the back seat or in the boot, or have it delivered", says the broker.
So there you go. In fact, just in case you have an accident, maybe we should consider not carrying passengers, who will insist on distracting us while driving. And while we're at it, what about all that flammable material inside the home? Throw away your paper Christmas decorations, candles, wrapping paper, furniture.
The broker? Allen and Allen, who will no doubt deem this piece of general mockery to have been good publicity.
