A fitting first run for the DBS
There are a couple of things that British people are particularly good at: one is making rather tasty luxury motors perfectly suited to driving to France and back laden with booze, and the second is drinking it.
Therefore it seems perfectly appropriate that later this month, 59 competitors will set off to do just that on the annual Beaujolais Run.
With sponsorship from old-school British clothing maker Hackett, cars will leave Goodwood on November 13th and, after a run up the famous hillclimb, will head to the south coast for the trip to France.
Competitors will then head to Reims for some champagne hospitality before striking out for Mâcon where they will collect their precious Beaujolais Nouveau cargo. Then all cars will head for home, and are due back on November 16th.
The event pays homage to the Aston Martin victory at Le Mans in 1959, so it’s entirely appropriate that one of the first road-going assignments for the new DBS will be competing in the event.
Victory will be claimed by the car which has completed the distance in the shortest distance, and the entire event is run in aid of some very worthy charities including the foundation of the late, great Richard Burns; Winston’s Wish, which cares for grieving children; and the Down’s Syndrome Association.
