Mobil 1's exotic F1 simulator
If you fancy yourself as a bit of a hand, watch out for the Mobil 1 Grand Prix simulator that's doing the rounds of events this season.
Variations of this £120k machine are apparently used by F1 teams for driver training, but if you've got a big enough spare bedroom and a footballer's salary it could be the ultimate accessory for your Playstation.
The simulator is known officially as a BRD-06 Full Car Motion Simulator, and aims to provide the most realistic racing experience possible. It has an authentic motion, and an amazing level of styling detail that's all geared to maximise the realism.
Uses latest technology to simulate G-force
The car itself has a GRP and carbonfibre composite chassis, and a 'force-feedback' steering system that's intended to give a true feel for the physicality of the F1 driving experience.
How do we know all this? Because yesterday Mobil 1's PR agency brought the machine to Haymarket so PH could have a quick play with it.
In spite of early confidence, RacingPete and I were upstaged comprehensively by PH site administrator SiMan - although we both reckon we'd have left SiMan for dead if the simulator hadn't made us sea-sick...
