PH paid a visit to Hexagon Classics last week, for a story to run over the Christmas period. Because we know how much you love festive features, especially when they involve a debate around classic car values...
Anyway, sitting proudly front and centre in the Ferrari section of the showroom (there's also a Porsche bit, an area for Astons and a BMW collection, too) is a Ferrari F355. And perhaps the greatest discovery of the whole day was just how right the little V8 still looks, and also how comfortably it sits amongst classic Ferraris from the 60s and 70s. As a poster car for so many during the 90s - certainly including a couple of us on PH - it's nice to see the F355 move into classic territory so gracefully. What a gorgeous car.
Children of the 90s will of course also remember the Ferrari F355 Challenge game; it featured in arcade first but also on Dreamcast and PS2, giving gamers the chance to play at gentleman racer. Having once won a kids club competition at the local holiday park on Ferrari F355 Challenge, the game has always been held in very high regard personally.
As a result the real F355 Challenge always was also, because success on the game would automatically mean success in real life, wouldn't it? The car and series particularly appealed because it was eventually replaced by the 360 Challenge, which was uglier and only available with the F1 gearbox.
This video sees the gentleman racers of Canada battle with their F355 Challenges (and manual gearboxes) around the Montreal circuit. A jolly good watch it is too, with spins, skids and slides throughout. And a first corner pile up, obviously. Camera technology (and commentating) may have moved on a bit in the past 20 years, but don't let that detract from a great bit of racing Ferrari action - enjoy!
