Prices have been announced for BMW’s flagship X6 - the twin-turbocharged xDrive50i. The car is aimed squarely at the Porsche Cayenne GTS and the supercharged Range Rover Sport and features a 4,395cc V8 powerplant.
The 402bhp xDrive50i will go on sale in November and will be £53,930 OTR. Its top speed is limited to 155mph and it can accelerate to 60mph in 5.4 seconds.
BMW says the car is 1.8 seconds quicker from zero than the Range Rover and with an emissions figure of 299g/km it is 75g/km cleaner. The Porsche in Tiptronic form is 1.4 seconds slower from zero to 62mph, 2.3mpg less efficient and, at 332g/km, it is 33g/km more polluting.
