Eighteen students of the Royal College of Art's Vehicle Design course have produced entries for a competition entitled
, and these four are officially 'the best'.
Working with virtual wind tunnel software to produce their concepts, the four finalists responsible for these designs (all from different countries) have been selected to spend a few days refining their entries with the help of the design team at Crewe, including boss man Raul Pires (lead designer of the new Mulsanne).
The designs are bold and quite different to one-another, but are apparently all designed to invoke Bentley's heritage.
- This swooping form was designed by 26-year old Finn Mikka Heikkinen (not to be confused with a very-similarly-named F1 hero...). He comes from a background of industrial design, but you might not have guessed it from looking at the big curvy GT seen in this rendering.

- Though there are no clues in these sketches, 26-year old Bora Kim from South Korea has apparently designed a Bentley that can select between several engines for any given journey. We don't know how (or why!), but the sketches suggest the most daring shape on offer from the finalists.

- This more angular affair is the brainchild of German-born David Seesing (26), and is apparently notable for its aerodynamic efficiency. It took us a moment to work out which way it was facing and where the division was between the door and window (actually we're still none-the-wiser on that one), but you can see where he was going.

- Finally, Marten Wallgren (27) from Sweden has tried to reimagine the Bentley Continental GT. We're sure it looks great fully-rendered, but in the only sketch we've got it looks more like George Jetson's fan heater... but that's not necessarily a bad thing!

The competition ends this week, and the winner will get a highly-prized six-month secondment at Bentley's design studio. Good luck to all!
