Geneva is a very wealthy city, so naturally its everyday traffic has a certain percentage of supercars and hypercars, much like London and Monaco. During the motor show, however, many other petrolheads inevitably come to town, and some of them bring their cars with them. You can see where this is going...
While we were in Geneva last year for GIMS we managed to catch some of the rarest and most exotic cars on the planet roaming the cobbled streets. Think of this as a preview to the similar madness which is guaranteed to reoccur during this year's show. Warning: if you don't like Koenigseggs, look away now.
There was no shortage of hypercars, from all corners of the globe. We managed to spot a McLaren P1 from Saudi Arabia, which had recently been rebodied by McLaren Special Operations entirely in red exposed carbon. We also saw a slightly less interesting silver 918 from the UK, and a satin white LaFerrari from California complete with G63 6x6 bodyguard car.
Bugatti also had a healthy presence in Geneva as we managed to see an old school EB110 driving along the Quai du Mont Blanc, right the way up to the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse 'La Finale'. La Finale was the last ever Veyron made which was unveiled at GIMS 2015, and is rumoured to belong to a collector with over 20 other Bugattis.
If you hadn't noticed, we also saw a lot of Koenigseggs. Eight to be precise, all driving around Geneva in convoy in a kind of mini 'Egg rally. There were two older CCXs in the group, however, the real show stoppers were the Ageras. In total there were four different Agera RSs; a prototype, the XS, the ML, and the Naraya. The Naraya was rumoured to be the most expensive Koenigsegg to leave the factory at over £4million, due to the abundance of blue carbon and gold leaf used. There were also two of the six One:1s in the world present, which, as the name suggests, have one hp per kg - a mind-bending stat.
Geneva certainly proved its worth as one of the supercar capitals of the world, and we know for sure this year won't disappoint. Only hours before writing this we witnessed a Bugatti Chiron being loaded onto a trailer in Mayfair. Destination? You guessed it, Geneva!
