The BMW MINI has been a marked success in America proving that a cute design can tempt buyers away SUVs.
A recent JD Power survey has left BMW scratching its collective head though. Despite the enthusiasm for the car, it came out with a very average score in the US survey of customer satisfaction. Delving a little deeper it emerged that it was due to the lack of a rear facing fog lamp (?!) and more importantly the lack of a cup holder of sufficient size to hold a bucket of latte.
This has been the main complaint about the car. It should of course be taken as a massive compliment that such a minor omission should be the main cause of complaint.
A new design will be incorporated in the next facelift of the interior, but in the meantime American MINI owners are being provided with an adapter to slot into the existing cup holder. This will allow a grande cappucino, McDogsBreakfast and a bucket of 'freedom' fries to be secured for consumption on the way to work.
