The new Verde supercar from Revenge Design claims to offer performance car enthusiasts a truly 'guilt free' driving experience.
The Verde unveiled today at the Detroit motor show is based around a Ford GT platform. In fact it will be built off tooling still owned by Ford, and then clothed in a swoopy body designed by Revenge company boss Peter Collorafi.
While the Verde will be available from the middle of this year with Ford or GM V8 power, its true calling is as a home for the HP2g engine - an ethanol burning 400hp V8 that also features a set of ceramic magnets around the cylinders that effectively turn the unit into an electric motor powered by two onboard batteries. Check out the HP2g website if you want to know how they say it works.
The HP2g option will apparently be available next year, meanwhile from this summer Mr Collorafi hopes to attract buyers to versions of the car powered by Roush tuned Ford V8s, or Pratt Miller Engineering versions of the GM ZR1 V8 making up to 638hp. Expect a 200mph top speed and 0-60mph in 3.5secs, he says.
The price for the Verde will start $190,000, and you can find out more about the project here.
