A speed camera that you can see
Lincolnshire police are to use hidden speed cameras to catch drivers this spring, it has been reported.
Whereas an effort has been made recently to make speed cameras more visible police in Lincolnshire believe hidden cameras are the way forward.
The force is about to launch ‘Operation Stealth’ and officers will soon be placed at specific locations at pre-determined times to catch outspeeders, according to Motorcycle News.
Inspector Andy McManus told MCN that bike riders are a major problem in the county and Operation Stealth will make the roads safer.
‘It's only about really excessive speed,' he said.
'If someone is just over that's not a problem, we're going to try and use police bikers to stop the offenders and give them a leaflet and a chat, and they will be dealt with as normal.
‘We will only prosecute high-end offenders - we're talking double the speed limit - and that will be a high profile prosecution.
‘Last summer on YouTube, in Lincolnshire we had two guys doing top-end, 180mph. It's got to stop.’
