Providing new models for use as course cars is a PR exercise used by many manufacturers to gain publicity for their cars and endow them with a bit of racing car credibility. That doesn't work however if the course car is then crashed as happened to Invicta's S1 this weekend.
The 320bhp V8 coupe was on track at the Vintage Sports Car Club meeting at Silverstone to both celebrate the heritage of Invicta and more importantly to showcase the new car to its target audience of sports car enthusiasts and potential buyers.
After two races, the car was crashed - an embarrassing incident for any course car - and certainly not the best of public relations exercises for reborn Invicta.
