Jaguar has chosen the Shanghai show to reveal its first teaser video of the all-new XJ model.
In a press conference at the show today, company MD Mike O’Driscoll confirmed the new luxury saloon will go on sale at the end of this year, and that it will feature the next generation of Jaguar’s aerospace-inspired aluminium body architecture. The teaser video also released at the show gives an intriguing taster of the new model’s styling, but only from a birds-eye view. However there’s enough metal revealed to show the new Jag will feature thoroughly contemporary lines that are a big step forward from the current model, with a swoopily-swaged bonnet, heavily rounded-off corners at either end, and what intriguingly appears to be a blacked-out rear pillar treatment with that panoramic glass roof.
Jaguar has confirmed the new XJ will be available with all of the latest Gen III petrol and diesel engines, including a 510bhp supercharged V8.
Full details and prices will be revealed on July 9th, with dealers accepting orders after that for delivery in early 2010. There’s also a new website if you want to register your interest now – and how could you not?
