If you want an idea of how far Mini has come since the cheeky little original, this is it.
Despite rumours it is a 210bhp JCW Clubman, it is actually a Cooper-S with John Cooper Works add-ons, although it gives a glimpse of what the ultimate version could look like.
There is no official word that there will be a more powerful JCW Clubman, but Mini insiders have hinted that it is not far away.
The car in the picture features 16” John Cooper Works sport brakes with perforated discs, 18” John Cooper Works alloy rims, carbon fibre air intake, carbon fibre mirror caps and ‘sport stripes’.
Inside there is a carbon fibre dashboard and gear knob/handbrake grip and the Alcantara steering wheel.
There is no performance upgrades on this car but rumour has it the JCW version could have up to 210bhp and may leave you with no change from £25,000, putting it in BMW 3-series Touring territory.
Mini would not confirm these details but expect an announcement soon on the full performance model.
