Want to give your kids a start in motoring? The Small Classic Car Company is launching a small battery-powered car suitable for kids.

Key features

Quiet - the motor / gearbox is almost silent, especially at slow speeds
Controllable - You can programme the controller for two 'master profiles' setting the acceleration and braking rates. In addition there is a Parental max speed control and a driver-operated throttle. As the child grows, the controller can be reprogrammed as required.
Easy to drive - Easy steering as a result of race quality kart components. Controls are steering-wheel mounted to suit all leg lengths -- no pedals that smaller children would strain to reach.
Pneumatic tyres - lawn-friendly pattern
Performance - the two 12v 38ah batteries (cyclic) are said to provide a full day's play. In testing, the company said it found it hard to use it enough in a day to notice degradation in performance as the batteries become discharged. Currently geared for 9mph, one benefit of electric power over small centrifugal petrol motors is the good initial acceleration. Both rear wheels are driven through a proper differential.
Durable quality - both the chassis and body are hand-laid fibreglass with a polished finish that's said to be more durable than paint. The fibreglass construction creates a strong unit; built to last. Painted bodyshell is a cost option.
