KITT in the glory days with The Hoff
A survey has revealed that KITT, the Pontiac Trans Am from 1980s TV series
, is Britain's favourite TV car.
Despite having been away from British TV screens (aside from innumerable repeats) since 1986, almost a fifth of the British public still want to own KITT more than any other TV star car.
KITT tops the viewing public heart's podium, with Morse's Jaguar Mk II taking the runner-up spot and the Ferrari Testarossa from Miami Vice in third.
Other highlights in the top 10 include Gene Hunts Audi Quattro from Ashes to Ashes and the General Lee from Dukes of Hazzard. The A Team GMC van rounds off the top 10, flying the flag for the commercial vehicle sector, while the Batmobile and Lady Penelope's Rolls-Royce fly the fantasy flag.
...and its latest starring role
The survey of 2000 people was commissioned by garage chain Kwik-Fit to find the most appealing car for their latest TV ad, and KITT made his return to British TV screens last Monday.
The full top 10 list is revealed in all its glory below. Question is: what's conspicuous by its absence? We reckon Columbo's Peugeot convertible is notable for its absence, as is Del Boy's Reliant Robin...
