DC100 Defender concept goes 'more off-road'
Jaguar Land Rover is in bullish mood here at the LA show, boss Dr Ralph Speth boasting of rising sales and particular success for the Evoque. Very much an ambassador for a new wave of cool Britannia car design, the Evoque is going down a storm this side of the pond.
Keen to underline the off-road heritage a new version of the DC100 concept is also here. Americans haven't quite kicked the SUV habit yet and the new Defender design concept has been bulked up with Jeep-scaring off-road rubber just to hammer the point home.
Jaguar meanwhile has a full world debut here at LA with the new cabrio version of the XKR-S, described as the fastest cabriolet Jaguar has ever sold. A white 550hp soft-top with an epic V8 is definitely on safe ground here in LA, boasts that the XKR-S production run is sold out for the coming model year suggesting that the cabrio's £100K-plus pricetag won't prove too much of a limiting factor. Stay tuned for some early driving impressions...
Fresh coat of paint for the already lovely CX-16
LA is also the North American debut for the stunning CX-16, here given a lick of paint and a California-friendly coat of ice white paint. And no less stunning for it.
