There are those that call the Cholmondeley Pageant of Power, held a couple of weeks ago, the 'Goodwood of the North'.
There are those that don't, mind, but the Cheshire-based festival of speed that is most emphatically not the Festival of Speed has an informal intimacy to it that the FoS has long-since lost.
Nobody from PH Towers managed to make it 'oop north' this year to see the second running of the event, but our spies tell us that the CPOP track is quite a challenge.
This year, the event's winner was a Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera, which beat the previous record by more than two seconds, seeing off competition from rally cars, Le Mans veterans, touring cars and even a current World Superbike.
And, as you can see from the first picture, Nick Faulkner wasn't holding back on the u-shaped sprint course, with his best run of 62.68secs beating the next best time - set by a Metro 6R4 more than 2.5secs.
With action like this, we might have to make an office outing to Cheshire next summer...
