Lamborghini has unveiled the stunning LP560-4 Spyder at the LA Auto Show. It’s not surprising Lamborghini picked the sun-drenched destination to launch the car, which has a new folding top that ca be lowered in 20 seconds.
The headlights of the car have been slightly updated with new LEDs and daytime running lights and, as with the coupe, the Spyder uses the new 5.2-litre V10 unit producing 552bhp and 398lb ft of torque. The suspension and e-gear transmission are identical as well.
The LP 560-4 Spyder takes only 4.0 seconds to sprint from 0 to 62 mph (0 to 100 km/h), reaching 124 mph (0 to 200 km/h) in only 13.1 seconds and going on to a top speed of 201 mph (324 km/h). The new driveline, featuring the 'Iniezione Diretta Stratificata' direct fuel injection system also makes for improvements in efficiency. Despite a large increase in performance, fuel consumption and CO2 emissions have been reduced by 18%.
‘The LP 560-4 is the next step in a huge success story," says Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini. "With the Spyder, we are now unveiling a car that is, quite simply, a new dimension in the latest Gallardo range. It is an entirely new model, whilst building on the substantial technical and design attributes of the Gallardo LP560-4 production strategy. The new Gallardo LP 560-4 Spyder is a simply breathtaking automobile – and utterly unparalleled in its commitment to extreme motoring.’
