Lamborghini was in bullish (ahem) mood when it unveiled the Reventon roadster At Frankfurt today - the first time the new car has been seen in the metal.
Just as Skoda finished revealing its thoroughly sensible and recession-friendly Superb estate (of which no more later), Lamborghini boss Stephan Winkelmann took the wraps off the determinedly politically incorrect Reventon Roadster.
But winkelmann was keen to point out that, even though the global economic climate is drastically different from that in which the coupe Reventon was launched just two years ago, Lamborghini still expects to make a profit in 2009, so such extravagent models as the REventon can still be justified.
There's more good news too. Contrary to previous reports, the Reventon roadster will have the Murcielago SV's 670hp version of Lamborghini's classic V12, rather than the 640hp version slung behind the seats of the Reventon Coupe. Top speed will be 205mph, while the Reventon should hit 62mph in 3.4secs.
There will be 15 Reventon roadsters built, at 1.1 million euros a pop (£975k) before regional taxes.
