In a world of TikTok and Fortnite, boredom isn’t something kids with weeks off school know much about nowadays. Not so long ago, however (or so we all like to think), summer holidays had to be spent on bikes, in fields or - when the weather inevitably intervened - cooped up making things with whatever could be found around the house. Kids who remember those times might like to remind the kids of 2022 about the good old days with this, a Lego Camaro Z/28.
As one of the most famous early muscle cars and with such an iconic silhouette, the first Z/28 lends itself perfectly to a brick-based build. The latest model is based on a 1969 Z/28, and will be available with red, white or grey stripes to customise. The kit gives Lego fans the option to build with roof or without, and to feature classic headlights or the hidden option. The Camaro also comes with a working steering wheel, opening doors and an “intensely detailed” engine. There’s even furry dice. It’s comprised of 1,458 bricks in total, so it sounds like there’ll be plenty to keep you busy should rain stop play outside. The Camaro can take pride of place on the mantelpiece once complete, too, at 36cm long, 14cm wide and more than 10cm high.
Camaro Product Marketing Manager Harlan Charles said: “The 1969 Camaro Z28 has been turning heads on and off the roads for decades, which is why we are so proud to see it come to life in a brand-new way via Lego bricks. Anyone who loves the iconic design of the 1969 Camaro Z28 now has the thrill of building this set and displaying it in their home.”
Now, technically speaking, the Z/28 is for those 18 and over, but a little adult supervision goes a long way with Lego builds. It’s on sale on August 1st and costs £150, which is probably what lunch for four at the airport costs now. And building a Camaro promises to be way less stressful for the whole family…
