The LFA production racer...
Lexus is heading back to the legendary Nürburgring this spring to challenge for glory in the 24 Hours endurance race with its LFA supercar - and could also be planning a special edition LFA to mark the event.
It will be the first time the standard production version of the LFA is seen in full-blooded competition, says Lexus, as in its two previous outings at the event development versions were raced.
...and the Nurburgring Special Edition
With its advanced, lightweight composite construction and 552bhp mid-mounted V10 engine, the LFA will reach 62mph in just 3.7 seconds and race on to a top speed beyond 200mph.
Gazoo Racing will prepare and field the two cars for the event, which takes place from 13 to 16 May. The team will include four Japanese and three German drivers.
Meanwhile reports from Japan suggest that Lexus is planning a limited edition version of the LFA that reflects the Nurburgring racer's track focus, and could even be called the Nurburgring Edition.
Apparently the new customer car will get a racer-style fixed rear wing, front splitter, stiffer and more adjustable suspension, and a 10bhp boost from a new exhaust - so it should look very much like the new racing version pictured in these official images. Lighter alloys and track tyres complete the reported special edition package, which you can have painted in one of four colours - including matte or gloss black and the orange shown in our additonal image here.
