Met grabs itself a Lambo

This is the Met Police's new catch-you motor.

The 640bhp Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 will be at MPH'06 on the Met Police stand -- we hear that the 6.5-ltre V12-powered machine had to be hurried covered during the photo-shoot as it was in danger of causing traffic accidents.

However, the Met Police was at pains to say that the 211mph, Β£180,000 supercar hasn't been paid for with public money. But in the eight miles that the Met Police was allowed to drive it, it was stopped twice by other Met units, having committed no traffic violations. Have they nothing better to do?

The MPH'06 show starts this week.

Beats the usual dreary Volvo's they use.

Dont mind as long as its put to good use e.g. catching Chavs, transporting organs.

Reminds of a story years ago when a police force in an area suffering from a large number of joy riders, bought a Sierra Cosworth in order to catch them, but within a month it was stolen, joyridden around and then torched.

I aslo recall seeing a Police Esprit in Hamspstead years ago.
