Yesterday we brought you a leaked picture of the new Audi A4, and it got mixed feedback. It was hardly a flattering image, and we feel that it should be given a fair hearing.
We've also got some more details on it, which we'll go into after the pics...
The new A4 is bigger than the last, by 114.3mm making it longer than both the 3-Series and the C-Class. It’s also wider than both.
Thanks to the longer wheelbase there is a shorter front overhang, a longer bonnet and more rear legroom for the kids.
The new car will also feature Audi’s new ‘Xenon Plus’ daytime driving lights, which are made up of 14 white LEDs and look suspiciously like the ones found on an R8.
Audi has lightened the car’s bodyshell by ten per cent, though the overall weight is up on the old model. Thankfully, more efficient engines mean that fuel economy and carbon dioxide emissions are much improved.
There is also news on the engine range – the two petrols we told you about yesterday are ever present, but there will also be a range of three diesels.
A 3.0 TDI unit will churn out 240bhp and 369lb ft, while a 2.7 TDI chucks out 190bhp and 295lb ft and the now staple 2.0 TDI has a plentiful 143bhp and 236lb ft.
Admittedly it’s there aren’t any details on an S or an RS version, but that 3.0 TDI looks like it has enough twist and shout to keep most people happy in the meanwhile.
