New Grand Sport looking good on the move
Corvette has released more pictures of its new Grand Sport model, following on from the single picture released in April.
The 2010 model-year revival of the classic Grand Sport moniker, which was last used on the 1996 C4 Corvette, replaces the Z51 trim level. Over the Z51, the 2010 Grand Sport gets bigger, wider wheels and tyres (275/35ZR18 tyres at the front and 325/30ZR19 tyres at the rear to be precise), and Z06-sourced brakes with six-piston callipers at the front and four-piston items at the rear.
There's a convertible version, too
Although the styling package is more subtle than the dramatic white stripe/black wheels combination on the C4 version, the new car still gets Z06-style wider front and rear wings, a front splitter and rear spoiler, brake ducts that aren’t just for show, and bespoke alloy wheels.
Underneath, mechanical changes are limited to a selection of suspension mods from the Z06, including revised stabilisers, shock absorbers and springs. The 6.2-litre LS3 V8 is unchanged at 424bhp and 424lb ft of torque, although shorter gearing shaves 0.2sec off the 0-60mph sprint and an optional exhaust package can bring an extra 6bhp to the party.
A moody shot of the previous Grand Sport
The Grand Sport will be available in both coupe and convertible versions, and with a six-speed manual or paddle-shift auto.
